In the latest episode of “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation,” Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola finally returned to the show after a long absence.
This marked her first appearance on the show since its revival in 2018, as she had chosen not to participate in the previous seasons.
Her return also meant coming face-to-face with her ex-boyfriend Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, whom she had dated during the show’s original run from 2009 to 2014.
In an interview with E! News in 2014, Giancola spoke about their breakup, stating that they had gone their separate ways and that she was focusing on herself.
In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Giancola expressed her nerves about seeing Ortiz-Magro again on the show, but also mentioned that she was prepared to handle whatever came her way.
She also stated that she doesn’t feel the need to be friends with Ortiz-Magro and that they are simply coworkers who dated in the past.

Ortiz-Magro is also returning to “Family Vacation” after taking a break from the show to focus on his mental health.
In a statement on Instagram, he announced that he would be seeking treatment for mental health issues that he had ignored for too long.
This decision came after allegations of domestic violence and his arrest in April 2021.
Ortiz-Magro’s arrest occurred while he was on probation for a previous domestic violence case.
He has since avoided charges related to the April incident, and his lawyers have stated that they are pleased with the outcome.
In the most recent episode, Giancola only discussed her falling out with the rest of the cast, but a preview for the next episode teases her surprise reunion with the rest of the cast, including Ortiz-Magro.
