Sam Bankman-Fried’s Mother Criticizes Prosecutors, Lends Support Ahead of His Trial

Discover the new definition of chutzpah.

Barbara Fried, a Stanford law professor and the mother of alleged crypto crook Sam Bankman-Fried, has encountered a group of contemporary “McCarthyites.”

This group includes the federal prosecutors who are bringing charges against her son, as well as the individuals overseeing the bankruptcy proceedings of FTX.

This turn of events occurred after a group of FTX debtors filed a lawsuit against her and her husband, Joseph Bankman, in an attempt to reclaim some of the millions of dollars the couple received from their son’s fraudulent business.

It’s interesting to note that her legal theory article, titled “Beyond Blame,” may have served as more of an instruction manual.

There are also allegations that she provided her son with advice on how to evade campaign finance law disclosure rules and accept a free house in the Bahamas, seemingly paid for with over $16 million in illicit funds.

Well, this situation seems to resemble crony capitalism more than the communism that Senator Joe McCarthy was combating.

While we understand the importance of financial resources for effective altruism, wouldn’t it be better if those resources were obtained through legal means?
