Saints WR Michael Thomas Arrested for Simple Battery and Criminal Mischief: What You Need to Know

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas found himself in trouble on Friday evening in Kenner, Louisiana. The Kenner Police Department confirmed to NFL Media that Thomas was arrested and charged with simple battery and criminal mischief.

The charges he faces are misdemeanors, stemming from an incident that occurred at around 7 p.m. ET. Thomas got into a confrontation with a construction worker in his neighborhood, where a house was being built, as per Kenner police Lt. Mark McCormick.

According to McCormick, the victim reported that Thomas yelled at him about parking in front of his house and threatened him verbally. The situation escalated when Thomas picked up a brick and threw it at the construction worker’s truck windshield. He then knocked the phone from the victim’s hands, shoved him, and told him not to record the incident.

Following a cooperative investigation, Thomas was arrested without incident and later released around 10 p.m. ET, as confirmed by McCormick. The Saints, upon learning of Thomas’ arrest, stated to NFL.com, “We are aware of the incident and are gathering information.”

Thomas, a second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, has had a successful career with the Saints, amassing 564 career receptions for 6,560 yards and 36 touchdowns. Despite previous injury setbacks, he has played in all nine of the team’s games this season, recording 439 receiving yards and one touchdown on 38 receptions in 2023.

The Saints are scheduled to play the Vikings on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
