Sage Steele Criticizes ‘The View’ as ‘Despicable’ Following Settlement with Disney over Anti-Vax and Controversial Obama Remarks

Former ESPN anchor Sage Steele criticized ABC’s ‘The View’ during a recent interview on Bill Maher’s podcast. Steele described the show as ‘despicable’ and accused it of being dismissive of non-liberal viewpoints.

Steele’s remarks came a month after she settled a lawsuit with Disney, the parent company of ESPN, regarding her controversial comments about COVID vaccines and former U.S. president Barack Obama.

During the podcast conversation, Maher suggested that Steele should appear on ‘The View,’ to which Steele responded, ‘Hell no.’ She shared that her past experiences on the show did not go well.

‘The View’ was further criticized by Steele, who accused the show’s hosts of being unwilling to accept differing opinions and of constantly interrupting those who disagree with them.

Steele also criticized the hosts of ‘The View’ for working under the same Disney umbrella as ESPN, implying that this influenced their lack of acceptance of different perspectives.

‘They are fine telling lies on that stage in that set,’ Steele said. ‘Because they know that if someone calls them on it, they are just going to talk over them and have the audience clap and go to break.’

Steele expressed sadness over the situation, as she believes ‘The View’ had the potential for greatness but has been ruined by its one-sidedness.

Steele has appeared on ‘The View’ four times in the past. Her lawsuit against ESPN was settled last month.

After settling the lawsuit, Steele announced her decision to leave ESPN in order to freely exercise her First Amendment rights. She expressed gratitude for her 16 years with the network and is excited for what comes next in her career.
