“Run Rabbit Run” Film Review: Sarah Snook Falls Short of Scaring the Audience

Motherhood is a popular theme in horror films, and Australia has contributed some of the most memorable examples of miserable mothers on screen. From Mia Farrow’s paranoid Rosemary Woodhouse to Toni Collette’s unforgettable diatribe in Hereditary, Australia seems to have a particular fascination with maternal horror. Director Daina Reid’s Run Rabbit Run is the latest addition to this lineage, although it unfortunately falls short of living up to its predecessors. While the film features some intriguing threads, such as Mia’s uncanny behavior and Sarah’s strained relationship with her mother, it relies too heavily on atmosphere and fails to deliver on the promised scares. However, Sarah Snook’s excellent performance as the troubled mother adds some depth to the film. Despite its flaws, Run Rabbit Run is worth a watch for horror fans who enjoy a moody and atmospheric approach to the genre.
