Romeoville Shootings Suspect Tragically Passes Away Following Devastating Oklahoma Car Crash

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Police in Oklahoma confirmed that a suspect in the shooting deaths of a suburban Chicago couple and their two children died in a fiery crash on Wednesday. The suspect, a 31-year-old man from Streamwood, Illinois, was believed to be responsible for the deaths of Alberto Rolon, Zoraida Bartolomei, and their two unnamed children. The victims were found shot in their Romeoville, Illinois, home between Saturday night and early Sunday.

Romeoville Police Deputy Chief Chris Burne revealed during a news conference that there was a relationship between the victims and the suspect, though he did not provide further details. Burne also mentioned that investigators have developed a possible motive for the shootings but did not disclose it.

The suspect attempted to escape authorities after his car was detected by a digital license plate reader in Catoosa, Oklahoma. However, he crashed the vehicle, causing it to catch fire. Burne stated that officers at the scene heard gunshots and found a critically injured female passenger and a deceased male driver.

The female passenger, who was identified as a person of interest in the shootings, had been reported missing and endangered in Streamwood, Illinois. Burne emphasized that there does not appear to be any other suspects involved in the case.
