Rob Schneider Cancels Canada Trip Immediately as Parliament Honors Man Connected to Nazis

Comedian Rob Schneider has announced that he is cancelling his upcoming visit to Canada due to a parliamentary tribute that honored a Ukrainian Second World War veteran who fought for Nazi Germany. Last week, 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka was given a standing ovation in the House of Commons, triggering international outrage when it was revealed that he fought for the First Ukrainian Division, a Nazi military unit. Speaker Anthony Rota described Hunka as a “war hero” during the tribute. Schneider, whose father is Jewish, expressed his outrage on social media and referred to the tribute as “beyond the pale” and “despicable.” He also criticized Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and referenced the recent “peaceful trucker protests.” Schneider called on Canadian actor William Shatner to apologize and humorously apologized for dating a Canadian woman and enjoying hockey and maple syrup. Schneider’s publicist has not responded to requests for comment. Rota has since apologized for honoring Hunka and has resigned following pressure from political parties and Jewish groups.
