WASHINGTON – Ronna McDaniel, the chair of the Republican National Committee, responded to criticism from 2024 GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy regarding the party’s poor election outcomes by dismissing Ramaswamy’s comments as an attempt to grab attention. McDaniel stated during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” that she isn’t running for president and that Ramaswamy, who is polling at 4%, is simply seeking headlines.
Ramaswamy, who took aim at McDaniel during the third Republican presidential debate, blamed her for the party’s losses and urged her to resign, calling the GOP a “party of losers.” He emphasized the accountability needed within the Republican Party after their recent electoral defeats.
Ramaswamy continued to stand by his criticisms, calling for McDaniel’s resignation in a post on X, formerly Twitter. Meanwhile, McDaniel brushed off Ramaswamy’s remarks, urging Republicans to concentrate on defeating President Joe Biden in the 2024 elections. She also emphasized the need to focus on Democrats rather than engaging in internal party strife.
McDaniel also highlighted the detrimental impact of intra-party disputes, pointing to the removal of former speaker Rep. Kevin McCarthy, and called for unity to win the White House, Senate, and House in 2024.
