Right-Wing Podcaster Ridiculed by Twitter Users Over Desire to Return to 1220

According to Michael Knowles of The Daily Wire, he believes that society would benefit from a return to the conservative values of 1220.

In an episode of his podcast, Knowles stated that “Americans are just as conservative today as they were in 2012.” He referenced a recent poll from Gallup that reveals 38% of Americans identify as conservative or very conservative on social issues, compared to 33% and 30% in 2022 and 2021 respectively.

While Knowles sees this level of conservatism as a positive start, he admits that it falls short of his vision.

“I don’t want America to be as socially conservative as it was in 2012. I want our civilization to embrace the social conservatism of 1220,” Knowles expressed. “Not even the 1950s or 1880s will suffice. 1220 is the ideal time to reflect on. At the very least, we should strive to be as conservative as we were before modern ideologies started eroding our society.”

Although Knowles may be correct in assuming that individuals from 1220 would perceive their 2012 counterparts as more liberal comparatively, it appears that he hasn’t fully considered the implications of his opinion.

Fortunately, Twitter users from various political backgrounds were quick to point out the flaws in his nostalgic dream.
