RFK Jr. asserts himself as the Democratic candidate most capable of confronting Trump regarding Covid lockdowns

Robert F. Kennedy Jr has claimed in an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com that he is the most qualified Democrat to challenge Donald Trump because he will hold him accountable for the lockdowns during the Covid-19 pandemic. Kennedy stated that shutting down the country resulted in the largest economic disaster in American history. He also criticized the restrictions on religious freedom, calling it an assault on First Amendment protections. Kennedy emphasized that Trump cannot shift blame to his bureaucrats, as the responsibility ultimately lies with the president. Despite being considered a long shot candidate, Kennedy’s early poll numbers have been better than expected, with a survey by Fox News placing him at 19% in the Democratic primary. Although this is far behind Joe Biden’s 62%, it is ahead of the only other declared candidate, Marianne Williamson, who sits at 9%.

Bobby Kennedy recently checked out of the Bowery Hotel in New York as part of his long-shot campaign for the Democratic nomination. During his announcement in Boston on April 19, Kennedy expressed concern over the toxic and dangerous polarization in the country, comparing it to the Civil War. While his wife Cheryl Hines was present during the announcement, only one of his eight living siblings attended, highlighting the divisions within his family. Kennedy’s famous name, as the son of former attorney general Robert Kennedy and nephew of President John F. Kennedy, may have contributed to his initial popularity.

Kennedy, who previously worked as an environmental lawyer, has recently gained attention for his anti-vaccine activism, particularly through his organization Children’s Health Defense. However, his accounts on Facebook and Instagram were removed for spreading misinformation. In the interview, Kennedy accused both political parties of being influenced by corporate interests and called for a return to traditional Democratic values. He mentioned his father’s ability to bring people together and unify the country during a time of polarization, expressing belief that he can do the same.

If nominated, Kennedy plans to hold Trump accountable for the lockdowns implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic. He criticized the economic impact of the shutdowns, stating that they cost the country $16 trillion and led to the closure of millions of businesses, disproportionately affecting black-owned businesses. Kennedy believes that Trump cannot evade responsibility for these consequences.

Kennedy’s campaign heavily relies on his family’s history and values. He specifically mentioned his opposition to the Ukraine War, advocating for its immediate end through peace talks. Kennedy believes that being a “Kennedy Democrat” represents freedom of speech, strong environmental protection, and an equitable nation where hard work and abiding by the rules lead to success. However, he acknowledges the challenge of his own party’s support, as a recent poll showed that the majority of Biden’s supporters would vote for Trump if Kennedy becomes the nominee. Kennedy denied reports of being advised to run by Steve Bannon, claiming it to be a deceptive tactic by the media to portray him as a Trump sympathizer.
