Revolutionizing the Local Fashion Scene: Empowering it to become a Global Powerhouse at This Conference

Through practical education and innovation, the PHx Fashion Conference is revolutionizing the local design scene and propelling businesses towards global success. The fashion landscape in the Philippines has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years, thanks to a new generation of designers who seamlessly merge traditional and contemporary elements in their materials and ethics. These designers have crafted a distinct aesthetic that is as varied as it is rooted in our tropical landscape.

While the Philippine design aesthetic has flourished, there is still room for growth on the operational side of the fashion industry. The PHx Fashion Group recognizes this opportunity and aims to foster a creative business environment through the PHx Fashion Conference. This conference provides valuable education, market incubation, guidance for skills development, mentorship opportunities, and industry networking and collaboration. It’s a chance to put design theory into practice and gain essential advice for building successful fashion businesses, whether in ready-to-wear garments or accessories.

Meet the visionary minds behind the PHx Fashion Group: Esme Palaganas, Trickie Lopa, and Seph Bagasao. They are the co-founders who spearheaded the first-ever PHx Fashion Conference in November 2019. Esme Palaganas is not only a fashion entrepreneur and educator but also a Visiting Lecturer at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, a Design Thinking Specialist, and aContributing Writer for Vogue. Seph Bagasao is an accomplished designer who has honed his craft under Josie Natori and is dedicated to addressing environmental and ethical concerns in the industry through his eponymous label. Trickie Lopa, the co-founder of Art Fair Philippines, lends her support to creatives and unique visions, recognizing the courage it takes to be a fashion designer in the Philippines.

The PHx Fashion Conference has continued to grow and adapt to new circumstances. In 2020, it transitioned online with “Fashion Forward Dialogues,” featuring industry experts like Rajo Laurel and Amina Aranaz-Alunan. Later in the year, mentorship programs led by Jojie Lloren, Jason Lee Coates, and Jude Macasinag provided invaluable guidance. In 2021, the conference reached international heights with its inaugural event in Japan as part of PHx Tokyo, a part of CITEM’s showroom incubation program. And in 2022, PHx made a vibrant mark at the Maarte Fair with its takeover of 10 themed rooms.

The PHx Fashion Conference places a strong emphasis on practical education. Esme Palaganas brings her expertise as a design lecturer and consultant, while Seph Bagasao combines his design skills with a commitment to sustainability. Trickie Lopa’s support for unique visions and creatives complements their shared value of supporting creativity and design vision. Together, they bring their diverse backgrounds and experiences to create an event that celebrates the importance of cultivating the fashion landscape.

The highly anticipated PHx Fashion Conference will take place from November 17 to 19, 2023. The event will feature industry luminaries and engaging discussions on various aspects of fashion.
