The Toyota IMV 0 concept will be showcased at the highly anticipated 2023 Japan Mobility Show. This revolutionary electric vehicle platform offers modular capabilities, allowing it to transform into a versatile truck or van based on the customer’s requirements. Toyota’s booth at the event will feature a range of IMV 0 versions, including a mobile cafe and a variant equipped with a massive vending machine for capsule toys. The booth will also showcase screens displaying various other potential applications of this platform.
The gallery below provides a glimpse of some of the variants, such as a compact cargo truck, a rugged ambulance, a sporty minitruck, an off-road-modified rig, and even a compact camper. Unfortunately, Toyota has not disclosed any details regarding the powertrain specifications of the IMV 0. However, the vehicle itself measures 208.7 inches (5,300 millimeters) in length, 70.28 inches (1,785 mm) in width, and 68.5 inches (1,740 mm) in height, with a wheelbase of 121.5 inches. While the standard cab accommodates two occupants, certain van variants are capable of accommodating additional passengers.
Interestingly, the IMV 0 seems to be an evolution of the Toyota Rangga Concept, which was unveiled at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show in August. The Japanese version of the concept introduces additional variants like the mobile vending machine and the rugged off-roader. Toyota initially announced that a production version of the Rangga concept would eventually be developed.
In addition to the IMV 0, Toyota’s designers have been hard at work conceptualizing other innovative ideas, such as the Toyota Baby Lunar Cruiser (BLC) Concept. This concept envisions an SUV with a blocky design that is suitable for both Earth and lunar environments. If you prefer even boxier designs, you may be interested in the Kayoibako concept, which will also be unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show. The Kayoibako sports a cube-like shape with small windows, providing it with a monolithic appearance. Toyota envisions this concept being utilized for shuttle services and last-mile cargo deliveries.
