Republicans prepare to open a community center in Little Saigon ahead of the 2024 elections – Orange County Register

The Republican Party inaugurated a brand new community center in Little Saigon on August 19, ahead of the 2024 elections. This center, located at 9550 Bolsa Ave. in Westminster, is just a mile away from a similar establishment that the national party opened in June 2021 in an effort to appeal to Orange County’s Asian American voters. By making stronger connections with Orange County’s AAPI voters, Republicans hope to maintain their political influence in a landscape that is becoming increasingly Democratic.

The community center will serve as a central hub for various community events, as well as a space for recruiting and training volunteers for voter outreach initiatives. Orange County is known for having one of the largest Vietnamese communities outside of Vietnam, and Little Saigon serves as the heart of this community.

Although Orange County has more registered Democrats than Republicans, and Asian Americans as a whole tend to favor Democratic candidates, the county’s voters have shown a preference for Republican candidates on the state ballot. This, coupled with the Republican Party’s success in recruiting candidates like Reps. Young Kim and Michelle Steel, has led to increased investment in non-White voting communities by Republicans.

As part of their strategy to attract minority voters, the Republican National Committee (RNC) has established nearly 40 similar community centers across the country. These centers aim to create a stronger connection between the party and minority communities, ultimately shaping the political landscape of the nation.
