Reports: Tucker Carlson to Collaborate with Trump for GOP Debate Counterprogramming

Former President Donald Trump has decided not to participate in the Republican Party’s upcoming presidential primary debate. Instead, he will be interviewed by Tucker Carlson. This information comes from The New York Times and CNN.

Both news outlets have reported that Trump has informed those close to him about his decision. However, it should be noted that Trump has a history of changing his mind.

By choosing to be interviewed by Carlson, Trump’s intention is to divert attention away from the Republican National Committee debate, which is scheduled to air on Fox News. It’s worth mentioning that Carlson was previously removed from the network but has been hosting a version of his political commentary show on Twitter since then.

Although Trump frequently criticizes Fox News on social media, he agreed to do an interview with Fox Business recently.

The debate will take place against the backdrop of Trump’s impending criminal indictment. He is required to surrender to Georgia authorities by August 25 on charges of racketeering.

For some time now, Trump has hinted that he would not participate in a debate with his fellow 2024 primary candidates. He argues that his polling numbers among Republican voters are significantly higher than those of his competition, including Chris Christie, Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Nikki Haley.

In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump emphasized his outstanding poll numbers and questioned the need for a debate, stating, “People know my record, one of the best ever, so why would I debate? I’m your man. Make America great again!”

HuffPost reached out to Trump’s camp for comment but did not receive a response.
