Report: Vanna White Advocates for Pat Sajak to Hold onto his Pay on ‘Wheel of Fortune’

Vanna White, the iconic letter-turner from “Wheel of Fortune,” is reportedly seeking equal pay to her co-host, Pat Sajak. Recent reports had suggested she was only asking for half of his salary, but according to an anonymous source, she is in fact asking for the same or possibly even more than him. Representatives for White were contacted for comment but have yet to respond. With Sajak’s retirement announcement and Ryan Seacrest named as his successor, rumors have been swirling about White’s salary negotiations with the network. A report from Puck News claims that White hasn’t received a raise in 18 years and has hired attorney Bryan Freedman to represent her. Freedman has represented other Hollywood heavyweights, including former “Jeopardy!” host Mike Richards. While White has been earning $3 million per year since 2005, Forbes reported in 2016 that Sajak makes a hefty $15 million annually. In the past, White was allegedly warned by others that fighting for better pay would cost her job, but she’s now ready to fight for her future. Last week, it was reported that White had reached a deal for the celebrity version of “Wheel of Fortune,” earning $100,000 per episode compared to Sajak’s reported $400,000 per episode. Contract negotiations for the syndicated show are currently on hold due to the writer’s strike, but it seems the two parties are not seeing eye-to-eye. If a deal isn’t reached soon, things could turn ugly. Sajak will continue hosting until season 41 of the show, set to air in September. In his retirement announcement, Sajak expressed his excitement to host the upcoming season and then take a back seat. Seacrest, who accepted the gig, mentioned his desire to work alongside White. According to a source, White feels that the show’s producers don’t respect her, and she’s disappointed by the situation. She wants to continue on her own terms and believes she deserves it. Recently, White hopped on TMZ’s Celebrity Bus Tour for a public appearance, but remained tight-lipped about her future on the game show. When asked if she would be coming back, she simply laughed and said, “Time to say bye,” as she exited the bus.
