Report reveals paedophiles utilizing AI to produce and market pseudo-realistic child sexual abuse imagery

Shocking Report Reveals Paedophiles Using AI to Create and Sell Life-Like Child Sexual Abuse Images

  • A report has uncovered the use of Stable Diffusion in the creation of child abuse imagery

A shocking investigation has revealed that paedophiles are utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to create disturbingly realistic child sexual abuse images.

According to the report, abusers are employing Stable Diffusion, a software designed for image generation, to produce graphic depictions of babies and toddlers being raped.

By using word prompts, the AI technology allows for the creation of any desired image, even those depicting heinous acts of child abuse.

The BBC claims that these disturbing images are being sold and traded on the Japanese platform Pixiv, with accounts often leading users to more explicit content on Patreon.

Olivia Sheepshanks, a journalist interviewed for the report, stated, “Since AI-generated images became possible, there has been this huge flood… it’s not just very young girls, they’re [paedophiles] talking about toddlers.”

This shocking report comes on the heels of the discovery that the AI platform Midjourney can turn real photos of children into sexualized images.

Authorities have also found instances where individuals have used “deepfake” technology to superimpose the faces of real-life children and child actors onto explicit images.

The National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC) has condemned platforms for not taking moral responsibility for their content amidst these revelations.

Under UK law, AI-generated images are treated the same as real pornographic photographs of children, making their possession or distribution illegal.

However, in Japan, sexualized cartoons of children are not illegal, which is why platforms like Pixiv can easily promote such content.

Creators of this content utilize hashtags to index niche keywords for easier discovery by users.

Numerous comments on these posts also direct users to other abusive content that is sometimes entirely real.

Pixiv has reportedly enhanced its monitoring systems to address the issue of child pornography, but the impact of these efforts remains unclear.

Additionally, as of May 31, photo-realistic AI images of children have been banned, although the scope of this ban’s effectiveness is unknown.

‘The volume is just huge,’ added Ms. Sheepshanks. ‘So people [creators] will say “we aim to do at least 1,000 images a month”.’
