Report: Prince Harry and King Charles schedule meeting for ‘peace talks’

King Charles III, aged 74, and his youngest son, Prince Harry, aged 38, are scheduled to have a meeting for “peace talks” on September 17 to address their ongoing family feud. It has been reported that the king has cleared his schedule for this occasion. According to an unidentified source cited by UK’s OK! Magazine, the king is expected to return to London from Balmoral in the middle of September, coinciding with the end of Harry’s Invictus Games trip to Dusseldorf. The source also stated that the king has a few days available in London before his official visit to France on September 20, during which he can meet with his son. The details of the meeting are currently being fine-tuned by the staff.

Meghan Markle, Harry’s wife, does not have plans to join the meeting, as per OK! Magazine. The Post has reached out to Buckingham Palace and Harry’s representatives for comment. The tension between Harry and his family has been apparent in recent years, especially following the release of his January memoir, “Spare,” in which he claimed that his father has always considered him the “spare” since birth. The portrayal of his stepmother, Queen Camilla, in the memoir particularly upset the king, according to OK!’s insider. Harry accused Camilla of sacrificing him for her personal PR agenda. If the talks do take place, the king will make it clear that any private family matters should not be discussed publicly in the future, the insider added.

It is uncertain whether Harry and Markle will visit the UK for the king’s 75th birthday in November. Harry revealed more about the struggles within the royal family in the December 2022 Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan,” which explored the aftermath of their decision to step down from royal duties in 2020. The relationship between Prince Harry and King Charles III has been strained for years. Harry returned to the UK in May to attend his father’s coronation but did not appear with his brother, Prince William, or his father. He also did not have an official role in the ceremony and sat in the third row, partly blocked by Princess Anne’s hat. His visit lasted less than 24 hours as he quickly returned home to California to celebrate his son Archie’s 4th birthday.

The rumored peace talks between Harry and Charles are set to take place just weeks before the king’s 75th birthday on November 14. It remains uncertain if Harry and Markle will travel to the UK to celebrate. A royal expert recently speculated that Harry may go alone, similar to their approach during the coronation. Royal biographer and journalist Angela Levin suggested on GB News that Harry could bring Archie along as well, as he is now older and could spend time with his cousins. Harry and Markle have two children, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, aged 4, and Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, aged 2. Levin also mentioned that Charles would want Harry and Meghan’s children to be present.
