Report: Elon Musk’s X takes action against election misinformation staff

Elon Musk’s social media company X, formerly known as Twitter, is drastically reducing its team responsible for combating misinformation related to elections ahead of the 2024 presidential election, according to a report.

X has fired four election integrity employees, including the team’s leader based in Ireland, UPI reported citing a report from The Information.

According to the outlet, executives of the social media platform informed the Dublin-based team that having integrity employees in Europe was no longer necessary.

This move results in a reduction of the team to less than half its size in North America.

Musk seemed to confirm the report on X’s official Twitter account on Wednesday.

“Oh you mean the ‘Election Integrity’ Team that was undermining election integrity? Yeah, they’re gone,” he tweeted.
