Report: Apple Explores Utilizing 3D Printers for Smartwatch Production

Apple is currently experimenting with the use of 3D printers to create the steel frames for its upcoming smartwatches, as reported by Bloomberg News. This innovative production technique eliminates the need to cut metal parts into specific shapes, reducing manufacturing time and benefiting the environment. Furthermore, if successful, the implementation of 3D printing technology could streamline Apple’s supply chain and be extended to other products in the future.

When asked for a comment, Apple did not respond immediately to Reuters.

According to the report, Apple also plans to apply this technique to its titanium Ultra watch but has scheduled the shift for 2024.
