In a series of changes to its primetime lineup, Fox News Channel announced Monday that Jesse Watters will replace Tucker Carlson as the host of the network’s 8 p.m. show. Laura Ingraham will now host “The Ingraham Angle” at 7 p.m., moving from her previous 10 p.m. time slot. Watters will take over the 8 p.m. time slot with his show “Jesse Watters Primetime.” Sean Hannity will continue as the host of the 9 p.m. show, while Greg Gutfeld will move to the 10 p.m. slot. Trace Gallagher’s “Fox News @ Night” will now air one hour earlier at 11 p.m. The new lineup will be effective starting July 17, according to a press release by Fox News Channel.
Watters’ show premiered last year at 7 p.m. and currently has 2.6 million viewers, including 270,000 in the 25-54 age range, according to Fox News.
This shakeup comes after Tucker Carlson, the network’s biggest star, unexpectedly parted ways with Fox News in April. His departure followed the emergence of “vulgar, offensive messages” about his colleagues in the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, which is owned by Fox News’ parent company, Fox Corp.
At the time, Fox News stated that the split was mutual and expressed gratitude to Carlson for his service. Watters also co-hosts “The Five,” a roundtable discussion program airing at 5 p.m.
