Removal of former CNN boss Chris Licht brings ‘vindication’ to Don Lemon.

In a recent interview, former CNN anchor Don Lemon expressed his feelings of vindication following the removal of his former boss, Chris Licht. Licht, who fired Lemon in April, faced backlash after a series of on-air clashes between Lemon and co-hosts Kaitlan Collins and Poppy Harlow, as well as Lemon’s offensive and sexist comments about Republican candidate Nikki Haley. Licht was subsequently axed by CNN’s parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, due to a scathing profile in The Atlantic that alienated network staff and senior figures.

Lemon took the opportunity to reflect on these events during a conversation with Kara Swisher on her podcast. He noted that The Atlantic’s article, along with subsequent reports and the resulting fallout, contributed to Licht’s departure. Lemon felt a sense of vindication in seeing the removal of those responsible for his dismissal.

During the interview, Lemon revealed that he was never given the chance to address the controversy surrounding his on-air comments about Haley’s age. Despite offering apologies on social media and within CNN, Lemon claimed he was not allowed to discuss the issue on air. This lack of opportunity to explain himself was a source of frustration for Lemon.

Since departing from CNN, Lemon has been enjoying time with loved ones and traveling. While he did not provide specific details about his future plans, he hinted at a potential return to the media spotlight. He hinted at emerging in the streaming and digital spaces, while also expressing a continued interest in traditional linear television. Lemon assured his audience to stay tuned for what’s to come.
