WSAR-1480’s Beloved Radio Pioneer, Happy Hec, Passes Away After Lengthy Career
Hector Gauthier, known affectionately as Happy Hec, was the lively voice of Greater Fall River for over 40 years. Gauthier, also the station’s senior account exec and host of the Bristol County Breakfast Club, spent his weekdays from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. entertaining the local community. On November 24th, at the age of 80, Gauthier passed away after a brief illness. His passing has brought an overwhelming outpouring of emotional tributes on social media, as the city mourns the loss of a local legend.
Mike Moran, a former WSAR colleague and close friend of Gauthier, shared his recollections of the longtime radio personality. Moran described Gauthier as genuine, low-key, and warm – his connection with thousands of listeners was unparalleled.
