Remembering Deputy Slain in Palmdale: A Heart-Wrenching Tribute by Family and Colleagues

In a deeply emotional ceremony, loved ones and colleagues bid farewell to a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy who was tragically killed in the line of duty. Ryan Clinkunbroomer, a 30-year-old deputy, was remembered in a Mass at the Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels, attended by law enforcement personnel, dignitaries, and his grieving family.

His fiancee, Brittany Lindsey, tearfully spoke about their love and commitment to each other. She expressed the pain of losing him and the void it has left in her life. She praised his dedication to his job and his proud service to his community.

One of Clinkunbroomer’s colleagues, Deputy Andrew De La Rosa, praised him for his exceptional professionalism and dedication to duty. He described Clinkunbroomer as a perfect example of a law enforcement officer who consistently followed procedures and executed his responsibilities flawlessly.

During the ceremony, Clinkunbroomer’s father, Michael, shared stories of his son’s childhood and the pride he felt as Ryan followed in the family’s footsteps to become a deputy. He expressed his gratitude to Ryan for making him a better person and thanked him for his zest for life. He tearfully acknowledged the pain of missing his son and expressed hope to reunite one day in heaven.

Ryan Clinkunbroomer was fatally shot while sitting in his patrol car at a traffic light near the Palmdale sheriff’s station. The suspect, Kevin Eduardo Cataneo Salazar, was apprehended two days later. Salazar has been charged with murder and entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.

The funeral service emphasized Clinkunbroomer’s love for his family, his fiancee, and his favorite sports teams, the Dodgers and the Miami Dolphins. Sheriff Robert Luna acknowledged the Clinkunbroomer family’s longstanding legacy of service in the sheriff’s department, spanning over 86 years and 121 years combined. Luna praised Ryan’s character and called him an outstanding deputy sheriff.

The loss of Ryan Clinkunbroomer has left a devastating impact on all who knew him. He will forever be remembered as a dedicated friend, brother, partner, teammate, son, grandson, and fiance, as well as an exceptional law enforcement officer serving Los Angeles County.
