The Detroit Red Wings secured a 5-2 victory over the NHL-leading Boston Bruins on Friday with standout performances from Alex DeBrincat and J.T. Compher, each contributing a goal and an assist. Robby Fabbri, Dylan Larkin, and David Perron also scored for the Red Wings, who managed to defeat Boston (14-2-3) for the second time this season in regulation.
Shayne Gostisbehere’s two assists, along with Ville Husso’s 25 saves, propelled Detroit to become the only team to beat the Bruins this season in regulation. As the Red Wings capitalized on six Boston penalties, their record now stands at 10-0-2 when scoring four or more goals.
The game marked the third meeting between the two teams in a month, with the Red Wings continuing their dominance after the Bruins’ win on Oct. 28.
Meanwhile, Jake DeBrusk and Danton Heinen found the net for the Bruins, who suffered their first regulation loss at the hands of Detroit after an unbeaten streak. Despite the Bruins’ resilience, Detroit maintained their lead until Perron sealed the deal with an empty-netter with 1:45 left on the clock.
The victory marked the Red Wings’ second consecutive win after returning from a trip to Sweden with a win and a draw. The team will host Minnesota on Sunday, while the Bruins are set to play the New York Rangers on Saturday, with Matt Grzelcyk expected to return from an upper-body injury.
