Recap of Week 6 in Season 20 of ‘The Bachelorette’

Dotun and Charity are an absolutely incredible couple. Their chemistry is undeniable, and I am eagerly anticipating what happens next week. It was so refreshing to see a Nigerian family portrayed on network TV, and they truly warmed my heart. Dotun’s joy when his parents surprised him was absolutely priceless. I couldn’t help but shed a few tears of my own. And let’s not forget about his amazing grandma’s spirit. She truly lit up the entire room. Hearing Dotun’s family reassure Charity that he is ready for marriage and committed to their relationship was so reassuring. And their evening date? It was beyond words, with the Thunderbird and the drive-in movie featuring their home videos. I am absolutely smitten with them and can’t wait to see how their story unfolds. – Erin

I must admit, I had my doubts about how ABC would portray a real Nigerian family on TV. I feared they would resort to fictional and stereotypical caricatures. However, the absence of Dotun’s parents in the beginning turned out to be just a breather for them, which is not uncommon for immigrant parents. Their unexpected appearance was absolutely adorable, considering the amount of planning and saving required for such trips. Additionally, I was thrilled to hear that Charity had previous exposure to Nigerian food. Raven’s misguided attempt to eat fufu with a fork on “Love Is Blind” still resonates with me. Eating with your hands is a cultural norm, and it is perfectly acceptable. The straightforwardness of a Nigerian mother is unbeatable. Auntie’s declaration that she would whisk Charity to Nigeria for a grand wedding if she chose her son was absolutely right. Witnessing Charity shed tears over Dotun solidified his place in her heart. The home videos provided the perfect heartfelt ending to their date. – Ruth

The cosmic connection between Dotun and Charity is undeniable. I am completely obsessed with their bond, and Dotun’s mother already considering Charity as her own daughter brought tears to my eyes. If they don’t end up engaged at the end of this journey, I will be devastated. – Alexandra

I don’t think I’ve ever been this invested in a couple from the “Bachelor” franchise. Dotun’s family was amazing, and his affectionate stories about his grandma were incredibly sweet. The fact that his parents cut their trip short to Nigeria just to meet Charity was a heartwarming surprise. I will be very upset if Charity doesn’t choose him after that. The answers from Dotun’s family couldn’t have been any better, almost as if they were coached. His brother specifically mentioning Dotun’s loyalty and faithfulness, making it clear that he would never cheat, was impressive. However, a small part of me is worried that this build-up might lead to disappointment. – Elise
