Recall Issued for Thousands of Baby Monitors Due to Burn Hazards

Philips Avent, a renowned baby products brand, is initiating a recall of over 13,000 baby monitors due to an issue with lithium-ion batteries overheating during the charging process. This hazardous situation prompted the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to issue a warning on Thursday.

The CPSC has highlighted that the affected model of baby monitor can potentially cause burns and damage to property. To ensure safety, the commission has advised consumers to immediately discontinue the use of these devices.

According to the recall announcement made by the CPSC, the models subject to the recall are SCD630 and SCD843, produced between March 2016 and December 2019. The model numbers and production date codes can be found on the bottom of the Parent Unit. These monitors and cameras are white in color, with “Philips Avent” printed on the front.

The statement also reveals that Philips has received 23 reports of the monitors overheating in Europe, but no such incidents have been reported in the United States.

For the convenience of consumers, Philips has provided images of the affected devices on its website for easy identification. Please visit Philips’ website to access these photos.

Philips assures its customers that if their product is not affected by this recall, no further action is necessary. They emphasize that the unaffected baby monitors are safe to use as they utilize a different type of battery.
