Recall Alert: Food Lion, Kroger Recall Frozen Vegetables due to Listeria Concerns

Twin City Foods Inc., based in Washington, has issued a voluntary recall for a limited quantity of frozen sweet corn and mixed vegetables due to concerns about potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. This recall affects bags of frozen vegetables sold at Food Lion and Kroger stores across the country. The decision to recall the products was made after third-party lab results from a customer’s bag of sweet corn indicated the presence of the bacteria. While no illnesses or complaints have been reported, consumers are advised not to consume the product and should return it to the store for a full refund.

Listeria infection may only cause short-term symptoms, such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea in healthy individuals. However, it can pose serious health risks for young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Pregnant women are also at risk as it can potentially lead to a miscarriage or stillbirth.
