Reached the Limit of Enduring the Pain

Britney Spears has spoken out for the first time since her husband Sam Asghari filed for divorce after just one year of marriage, revealing that she “couldn’t bear the pain anymore.” Taking to her Instagram on Friday night, the iconic “Toxic” singer, now 41, expressed her shock at the turn of events, making it clear that their divorce is a private matter. Alongside a video of herself dancing, Spears wrote, “As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together… 6 years is a long time to be with someone, so I’m a little shocked. I’m not here to explain why, because honestly, it’s nobody’s business!! But, I couldn’t bear the pain anymore, honestly!!”

She also shared that she has received countless heartwarming messages from friends, which she deeply appreciates. Spears acknowledged that her public persona on Instagram may not reflect the reality of her life, stating, “I would love to show my emotions and tears, to reveal how I truly feel. Unfortunately, I’ve always felt the need to hide my vulnerabilities for some reason.” She further expressed that if she wasn’t playing the role of her father’s strong soldier, she believes she would have been sent away to seek treatment. Spears emphasized her desire for unconditional love from her family and explained that their divorce, although private, left her a little surprised.

Ending her heartfelt post, Spears assured her followers that she will remain as strong as she can and continue to do her best. She added, “And I’m actually doing pretty damn good!! Anyway, have a good day and don’t forget to smile!!”

Asghari, on the other hand, addressed the split the day before in a relatively calm manner. He shared his decision to end their relationship after six years of love and commitment, expressing his wish for them to retain their love and respect for each other.

Despite the seemingly civil approach, Asghari’s divorce filing indicates that he is requesting spousal support from Spears, as well as coverage of his legal expenses and court costs. He also mentioned “separate assets” and “various items” in his filing, including the dogs they owned together. However, due to the presence of a strong prenuptial agreement, Asghari will not receive any portion of Spears’ substantial fortune. The couple had a private wedding ceremony at Spears’ Thousand Oaks, Calif., mansion last year.

Spears and Asghari first met on the set of her music video “Slumber Party” in October 2016. They began dating shortly after but kept their relationship low-key due to Spears’ conservatorship at the time. Asghari proposed to Spears in September 2021, just two months before the singer was officially freed from her conservatorship.

While their marriage lasted less than a year, their wedding day was not without drama. Spears’ ex-husband, Jason Alexander, who was briefly married to her for 55 hours in 2004, attempted to intrude on the celebration by live-streaming himself breaking into her home. Security quickly apprehended him, and he was later issued a restraining order. Spears had previously been married to Kevin Federline, with whom she shares two sons, before divorcing in 2007.
