Eagles linebacker and special teams ace, Shaun Bradley, sustained an unfortunate Achilles injury during Saturday night’s preseason opener against the Ravens, as reported by John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

In the third quarter of the game, Bradley was carted off the field and it has been confirmed that he will be sidelined for the entire 2023 season. The Eagles officially referred to the injury as a “lower leg injury,” and it was evident that Bradley was in considerable pain while he awaited the cart. He could not put any weight on his right leg and required assistance from trainers.

Head coach Nick Sirianni swiftly joined Bradley on the field after witnessing his agony, and all of Bradley’s teammates eventually gathered to wish him well before he was transported off the field.

Temple alum Shaun Bradley was selected by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL draft, and he has since been a key contributor to the team’s special teams unit. Over the course of his three-year tenure, Bradley has participated in 45 games, predominantly fulfilling special teams responsibilities.

Although his defensive playing time has been limited, Bradley has become a fixture on special teams throughout his career:

2020: 284 snaps (68%)
2021: 280 snaps (71%)
2022: 314 snaps (80%)

While Bradley was not guaranteed a spot on the roster prior to this injury due to the fierce competition among linebackers, his prowess on special teams likely ensured his inclusion.

This is the final year of Bradley’s four-year rookie contract.
