Random Seattle Attack Claims Lives of Pregnant Woman and Her Unborn Baby

In a horrifying and seemingly random act of violence, a man approached a car that had stopped at an intersection in Seattle last week on Tuesday morning. Without warning, he fired shots through the window, taking the lives of a pregnant woman and her unborn child. The victim, Eina Kwon, 34, was immediately rushed to the operating room in hopes of delivering her baby, but sadly, the infant only survived for a short time, as reported by KING5. Tragically, Eina Kwon also succumbed to gunshot wounds to her chest and head. Her 2-year-old son, whose 3rd birthday party she was eagerly planning, is left behind, according to NBC News. Fortunately, her husband, Sung-hyun Kwon, 37, was shot in the arm but managed to survive.

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Cordell Maurice Goosby, was apprehended shortly after the shooting thanks to eyewitness descriptions. As the officers approached him, he allegedly raised his hands in surrender, repeatedly saying, “I did it, I did it.” While Goosby claimed that he saw a gun in the victims’ car and shot in response, surveillance video of the incident revealed that there was no interaction between him and the victims prior to the attack. Moreover, Goosby appeared to be in a state of crisis when arrested. He now faces charges of first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. Eina Kwon, who was the owner of a sushi restaurant, is deeply mourned by the community. A neighboring restaurant owner described her as the most selfless and loving person.
