Ranch Properties Under Threat from Blaze Northwest of Elsinore

A brush fire erupted on Tuesday in the northwest of Lake Elsinore, scorching 30 acres of land and posing a threat to a nearby ranch. The fire was quickly brought under partial control by emergency crews.

The Riverside County Fire Department received reports of the blaze at approximately 2:25 p.m., in the vicinity of Snake and Lindell roads near Walker Canyon. Upon arrival, multiple engine and hand crews were dispatched to the scene, where they encountered flames spreading at a moderate pace through medium brush.

To combat the fire, three Cal Fire air tankers and three water-dropping helicopters took to the skies before ground firefighters were able to reach the location. Their concerted efforts successfully prevented the flames from reaching and damaging the ranch.

Although an evacuation warning was on the verge of being issued, it ultimately was not activated.

As of 6:50 p.m., the fire had been contained by 40%. The air tankers were released from duty at 4:55 p.m., leaving only the helicopters to patrol the area.

Unfortunately, one firefighter sustained a non-life-threatening injury during the operation and was promptly transported to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar for treatment.

Authorities reported an additional challenge during the fire’s early hours as two to three dozen horses were observed running back and forth across containment lines in a state of confusion. Officers from the Department of Animal Services worked diligently to corral the equines and ensure their safety.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
