Queens High School Students Cause Uproar After Discovering Teacher’s Attendance at Pro-Israel Rally

Students at a high school in Queens, N.Y., reportedly caused chaos in the hallways upon discovering that a teacher had attended a pro-Israel protest on Monday. According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), school safety agents at Hillcrest High School requested the response of the school’s sergeant in relation to a group of disorderly students inside the location. The students dispersed upon the sergeant’s arrival.

The disturbance stemmed from a pre-planned protest by students due to a teacher’s Facebook profile photo showing her at a pro-Israel rally holding a poster that read “I stand with Israel,” as reported by The New York Post. One senior student disclosed, “The teacher was seen holding a sign of Israel, like supporting it. A bunch of kids decided to make a group chat, expose her, talk about it, and then talk about starting a riot.”

An alleged video of the incident depicted students running and jumping in the hallways. The students attempted to gain access to the teacher’s classroom, prompting her to hide in a locked office due to the alleged riot.

In a statement to The New York Post, the teacher expressed her shock at the calls for violence against her, stating, “I have been a teacher for 23 years in the New York City public school system — for the last seven at Hillcrest High School. I have worked hard to be supportive of our entire student body and an advocate for our community, and was shaken to my core by the calls to violence against me that occurred online and outside my classroom last week.” She emphasized that no one should feel unsafe at school, both students and teachers alike.
