Protests Over Teen’s Death in France Spark 150 Arrests in Police Shooting Incident

French authorities have made 150 arrests following violent protests that erupted overnight in multiple cities across the country, fueled by anger over the fatal shooting of a teenager.

According to Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, town halls, schools, and police stations were set on fire during the night in what he described as “intolerable violence.”

President Emmanuel Macron, after condemning the killing as “inexcusable,” called for calm and convened an emergency meeting with his ministers, as reported by Le Parisien.

In the aftermath of the teenager’s death, protests turned violent in Nanterre and northeastern Paris, with reports of clashes between demonstrators and the police.

The victim, a 17-year-old boy named Naël M, was fatally shot by a police officer during a traffic stop. Videos of the incident show the officer shooting at the driver of a stationary yellow Mercedes AMG car, causing it to crash.
