Protesters Stage Blockade on Ventura Freeway in Glendale

A group of demonstrators disrupted traffic on the eastbound lanes of the Ventura (134) Freeway at the Golden State (5) interchange in Glendale on Wednesday evening.

At 9 p.m., the California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert for the eastbound Ventura Freeway at Central Avenue, anticipating a three-hour closure of all lanes as authorities worked to clear the protesters from the freeway.

According to KCAL, the SigAlert was issued after witnesses reported several individuals and trucks blocking all eastbound lanes on the freeway.

The demonstrators, associated with a gathering called “Rally for Life,” were expressing their grievances against Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Burbank, for allegedly not taking sufficient action to address ongoing blockades in Armenia, as stated by the Burbank Police Department and reported by KCAL.

The protest initially started at Burbank City Hall and later moved to the interchange of the Ventura and Golden State freeways, as well as the Hollywood (101) Freeway at Vineland Avenue.

Signs placed on the freeway read “Adam Schiff Don’t Ignore Us” and “Open the Road to Life,” as captured by KCAL.

The transition road from the eastbound Ventura Freeway to the northbound Golden State Freeway has been closed by the CHP.
