Bel-Air Vigil for Victims of Hamas Attack in Israel Spurs Solidarity and Calls for Peace
A vigil is scheduled to take place in Bel-Air on Sunday evening to honor the victims of Saturday’s devastating attack by Hamas on Israel. The Vigil for Israel is jointly organized by The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles and The Board of Rabbis of Southern California, with over 80 organizations sponsoring the event at Stephen Wise Temple on Stephen S. The Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and the city of Beverly Hills all issued statements reaffirming their commitment to ensuring the safety of residents.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles expressed its solidarity with Israel and established an emergency fund to support the victims of the attack. Students for Justice in Palestine at UCLA and the Muslim Public Affairs Council called for an understanding of the historical context and the ongoing occupation that has contributed to the cycle of violence in the region.
