Prominent Activist’s Son Found Guilty of Violating Jan. 6 Laws: Learn the Shocking Verdict

A prominent conservative activist’s son has been convicted of multiple charges related to his involvement in the storming of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. This includes bashing in a window, chasing a police officer, invading the Senate floor, and assisting a mob in disrupting the certification of President Joe Biden’s election victory. The convicted individual, Leo Brent Bozell IV, 44, hails from Palmyra, Pennsylvania. The Justice Department reveals that he has been found guilty of 10 charges, including five felony offenses, following a trial overseen by a federal judge.

Leo Brent Bozell IV’s father, Brent Bozell III, is the founder of several conservative media organizations, such as the Media Research Center and Parents Television Council.

In a trial without a jury, U.S. District Judge John Bates heard testimonies and subsequently convicted Bozell on charges of obstructing the joint session of Congress on Jan. 6. This session was crucial for certifying the Electoral College vote, which confirmed Biden’s win over former President Donald Trump.

Prosecutors describe Bozell as a significant contributor to the mayhem, destruction, and obstruction witnessed at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. They expressed this sentiment in a pretrial court filing.

Sentencing for Bozell is scheduled to occur on Jan. 9.

As of Saturday, Bozell’s attorney, William Shipley Jr., has not responded to an email seeking comment.

Prosecutors argue that prior to the riot, Bozell played a role in planning and coordinating events in Washington, D.C., in support of Trump’s “Stop the Steal” movement. They state that after Trump’s rally near the White House on Jan. 6, Bozell marched to the Capitol and joined a mob in breaking through a police line. prosecutors claim he proceeded to smash a window next to the Senate Wing Door, creating an entry point for numerous rioters.

Once inside, Bozell, along with other rioters, pursued Capitol Police officer Eugene Goodman up a staircase where they encountered more officers. Furthermore, Bozell was caught on video entering the office of then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Prosecutors alleged that he left the office with an item in his hand.

On the Senate floor, Bozell manipulated a C-SPAN camera, directing it towards the ground to prevent it from capturing the rioters’ actions as they ransacked the chamber. He spent a considerable amount of time on the Senate floor.

According to prosecutors, Bozell traversed different parts of the Capitol, passing through several police lines and spending nearly an hour roaming the building before being escorted out by authorities.

In a pretrial court filing, Bozell’s lawyer denied his client’s involvement in overwhelming a police line or committing any violence against law enforcement officers. Shipley claimed that video evidence would demonstrate Bozell assisting officers in need and that he was primarily lost, merely observing events unfolding.

Bozell was apprehended in February 2021 after an FBI tipster, who recognized him partially due to the “Hershey Christian Academy” sweatshirt he wore on Jan. 6, identified him.

Over 1,100 individuals have faced charges related to the Capitol riot. Out of these, more than 650 have pleaded guilty, while approximately 140 have been convicted through trials in Washington.
