In a chaotic morning at the House of Representatives, Progressive Representative Jamaal Bowman from New York pulled a fire alarm in one of the office buildings. This incident occurred as lawmakers scrambled to prevent a government shutdown. The House Administration Committee has confirmed the incident and it is currently under investigation. Sources from Fox News and Fox News Digital have reported that Bowman is being questioned by the Capitol Police’s criminal investigation unit.
Committee Chair Bryan Steil from Wisconsin stated, “Rep. Jamal Bowman pulled a fire alarm in Cannon this morning. An investigation into why it was pulled is underway.” Fox News Digital has reached out to Bowman’s office for comment but has not received an immediate response.

According to sources, the incident was captured on camera, although video footage is not yet available to Fox News Digital.
This incident occurred just after House Republicans made an announcement that they would be rushing a stopgap spending bill, known as a continuing resolution (CR), to the House floor on Saturday. At the same time, the Senate is considering its own CR. Democrats were caught off-guard by this announcement and voiced their concern that they were not given enough time to thoroughly read the 70-page-long bill.
