Prince William’s Fun-Filled NYC Visit: Watch Him Get Drenched!

Prince William, 41, touched down in the city that never sleeps – New York City, for a solo visit. Leaving his wife, Kate Middleton, behind, he expressed his excitement about being back in the United States. Prince William wasted no time getting immersed in the local culture, quite literally. His first stop was Governor’s Island, where he adorned waders, a neon orange life vest, and bright yellow gloves to join the Billion Oyster Project (BOP).

The Billion Oyster Project, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to restoring oyster reefs in New York Harbor. They collect oyster shells from various restaurants, including popular NYC spots like Crave Fishbar and Grand Banks. These oyster shells undergo a year-long curing process and are then used to restore oyster reefs, which serve as natural barriers against storm surges and provide other ecological benefits.

During his visit, Prince William interacted with students from the New York Harbor School MAST Center’s oyster hatchery, surprising them with his presence. He even took a few handfuls of oysters from their cages. The prince also met with four restaurateurs, including Brian Owens, owner of Crave Fishbar, who has donated 3 million oyster shells since 2015. The restaurateurs were impressed by Prince William’s genuine interest and the thoughtful questions he asked.

In his remarks, Prince William praised the American people for their optimism and ingenuity. He quoted former President John F. Kennedy, highlighting the importance of taking bold action for a healthy and sustainable world. Prince William’s visit to the Billion Oyster Project showcased his commitment to environmental conservation.

On Tuesday, Prince William is set to meet with first responders to discuss mental health issues, in line with the UN General Assembly week activities. He also plans to attend the Earthshot Prize Annual Innovation Summit. However, according to the Sunday Times, his strained relationship with his brother, Prince Harry, will not be a topic of discussion during his visit.

Overall, Prince William’s visit to New York City highlights his dedication to environmental causes and his belief in the power of collaboration and innovation.
