Prime Video to have Ad Tier option on Amazon’s plan

Reports have surfaced that Amazon is contemplating the addition of an ad-supported tier for its streaming service, Prime Video. If this move goes ahead, Prime Video will join its competitors Netflix and Disney+, in offering an ad-supported option to its subscribers. Early-stage discussions have been held, and it is not guaranteed that the new tier will be implemented. However, Amazon is looking to increase its advertising revenue, at a time when it is undertaking major cost-cutting measures and layoffs. Ads will be brief, and there may be an option for subscribers to pay a higher fee for access to the ad-free version of Prime Video. In addition, Amazon is said to be in discussions with Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global about offering ad-supported tiers of their streaming services through Amazon’s Prime Video Channels.
