Pregnant Woman Tragically Killed by Ohio Police Shooting

Police officials in a Columbus suburb have reported that a pregnant woman was fatally shot by officers in an Ohio supermarket parking lot. The woman, identified as Ta’Kiya Young, 21, from Columbus, died on Thursday evening in Blendon. According to reports, an employee at the supermarket alerted the officers about multiple individuals running away from the store with stolen items. Young was one of them and had allegedly taken several bottles of alcohol. One officer positioned themselves at the driver’s side of Young’s car and instructed her to stop, while another officer positioned themselves in front of the vehicle.

Young then proceeded to put the car in gear and accelerated towards the officer. In response, the officer fired a single shot through the front windshield. After traveling about 50 feet, Young’s car came to a stop on the sidewalk outside the store. She was pronounced dead shortly after the incident. Young was expected to give birth in November, but unfortunately, her unborn daughter did not survive. She leaves behind two sons, aged 6 and 3. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is leading the probe into the shooting. Young’s family has expressed their concerns and desire for answers regarding the incident, particularly questioning why she was perceived as a lethal threat.
