Former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter predicts that the marriage between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will last “years rather than decades.” In an interview with The Sunday Times, Carter, 74, stated, “I think she has run rings around poor Harry and gotten what she wanted: notoriety, money, and a title. His usefulness to her diminishes daily.”
Carter also bets that Markle, 42, won’t return to acting. The former actress gained fame from her role in the drama “Suits” before marrying Prince Harry in 2018. Carter sarcastically suggests that if there is a “Real Housewives of Montecito” show, Markle would be a sure fit. Carter served as the editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair from 1992 to 2017.
The Post reached out to representatives of the Sussexes for comment.
Carter’s statements come after the royal couple was seen attending Katy Perry’s “PLAY” residency in Las Vegas. The couple, who began dating in 2016 and stepped back from royal life in 2020, also recently attended a mental health conference in NYC. During the conference, Markle expressed that being married to Harry is one of the most important things in her life, along with motherhood.
Markle shared her concerns about their children, 4-year-old Prince Archie and 2-year-old Princess Lilibet, using social media in the future. She discussed how social media was meant to create a positive community but has devolved into something negative.
Carter’s remarks follow the comments of royal journalist Phil Dampier, who stated that Harry has become dependent on Markle for his social life. Dampier mentioned that Harry’s circle of friends in Montecito is limited and leaving the UK has caused him to lose connections and pay a significant price.
