This result exceeded expectations and marks the first time a weight-loss medication has been shown to provide long-term cardiovascular benefits, as stated by STAT. When combined with a healthy diet and exercise, Wegovy, which was introduced to the market in 2021, typically leads to a weight loss of approximately 15%. Novo Nordisk is also seeking approval to sell both Wegovy and the popular medication Ozempic in pill form.
