Pirates Pitcher Angel Perdomo Suspended by MLB for Deliberate Throw at Padres’ Manny Machado

Major League Baseball has taken action against Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Angel Perdomo for intentionally throwing at Manny Machado. Perdomo struck San Diego Padres star third baseman Manny Machado in the back with a 98 mph fastball. As a result, the league has suspended Perdomo for three games and imposed an undisclosed fine.

The incident occurred during a game in which Perdomo gave up a home run to Juan Soto before hitting Machado. Pirates manager Derek Shelton has also received a one-game suspension and a fine for Perdomo’s actions. Despite the incident, the Padres went on to defeat the Pirates, 5-1.

Perdomo has expressed remorse, stating that he tried to come inside but went too far and hit Machado by mistake. Shelton also believes that Perdomo did not intentionally hit Machado, but rather the ball got away from him.

Perdomo joined the Pirates as a free agent this season and has a record of 1-1 with a 3.92 ERA in 21 appearances. Throughout his career, which includes stints with the Milwaukee Brewers and Pirates, he has a record of 2-1 with a 6.02 ERA in 43 relief appearances.
