Pink opens up about her work and reveals her “best and worst singles”.
In an interview published Wednesday by the Los Angeles Times, the pop rocker discussed her thoughts on her songs.
When asked about her “worst” single, Pink replied, “Worst? I mean, there’s been so many. Maybe ‘True Love’.”
The song she mentioned, “True Love,” was released in 2012 and features English singer Lily Allen. It includes provocative lyrics like “You’re an asshole but I love you” and “I really hate you so much I think it must be true love.” The music video for the song even stars Pink’s husband, Carey Hart.
Pink explained her reasoning for choosing “True Love” as her worst single, describing it as “mean.” She joked, “Carey’s got thick skin, but I owe him a love song.”
She also mentioned another contender for her worst single, saying, “Oh wait, I did put out that SpongeBob thing,” referring to a 2009 track created for Nickelodeon’s cartoon.
However, it’s unclear if she was serious or joking, as the transcription doesn’t indicate her tone. It’s hard to imagine anyone regretting appearing in that music video!
When it comes to her best singles, Pink selected her 2001 hit “Get the Party Started” and her 2008 song “So What,” which is about a temporary separation from Carey Hart. Interestingly, “So What” actually helped bring the couple back together. According to Us Weekly, Pink reached out to Hart to ask him about appearing in the music video, and it led to a reconciliation.
In the interview, Pink acknowledged the role of “So What,” saying, “‘So What’ was fun from start to finish — writing it, singing it, performing it, the video. It was part of what got Carey and I back together.”
