Aug. 25 (UPI) — A pilot recently undertook a remarkable mission to reunite a 9-year-old Texas girl with her beloved American Girl doll, Beatrice, which she accidentally left behind at a Tokyo airport.

After returning to the United States from their family trip to Bali, Indonesia, Rudy and Celeste Dominguez discovered that their daughter, Valentina, was devastated upon realizing she had lost her precious doll during their stopover in Tokyo. The doll had been last seen aboard the plane.

Realizing the doll was missing, the Dominguez family checked their luggage but without success. They promptly contacted the airline and sent an email to inquire about the doll’s whereabouts, as reported by Good Morning America.

Beatrice held immense sentimental value for Valentina, who regarded the doll as her closest companion. “She brings me happiness and she’s my best friend,” Valentina expressed. “When she was missing, when we got settled into our hotel, I felt very bad. I felt like my heart was broken.”

The parents turned to social media, posting about the lost doll on Facebook. Fortunately, the post caught the attention of James Danen, an American Airlines pilot based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Danen went above and beyond to assist the Dominguez family. He contacted Turkish Airlines’ lost-and-found department at Haneda Airport in Tokyo and successfully located Beatrice. Eager to deliver the doll safely back to Valentina, he personally accompanied her on a journey across the globe, documenting their travels with photographs taken at various airports along the way.

This week, Danen finally reunited Valentina with her cherished doll, much to her delight. “I felt over the moon,” Valentina expressed. “I knew Beatrice was gonna be mad at me, but I was happy that I could see her again.”

Danen expressed his happiness in making the reunion possible, stating to WFAA-TV, “I was really glad I could do something nice for somebody.”
