Gene Wilder, the beloved actor who portrayed Willy Wonka, continued his acting career until the early 2000s.

From the moment he gracefully emerged from his chocolate factory, Gene Wilder’s performance as Willy Wonka mesmerized both the characters in the story and the audience.
Prior to taking on the iconic role, Wilder was renowned for his work in movies such as “Bonnie and Clyde” (1967) and “The Producers” (1967).
Although he is widely recognized for his portrayal in “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” (1971), Wilder had a remarkable acting career beyond that film.
He starred in “Blazing Saddles” (1974), co-wrote and starred in “Young Frankenstein” (1974), and delivered a Golden Globe-nominated performance in “Silver Streak” (1976).
Additionally, Wilder appeared in the NBC sitcom “Something Wilder” and guest-starred in a two-episode arc on NBC’s “Will and Grace,” which resulted in him being nominated for an Emmy Award.
After 2003, Wilder shifted his focus away from acting and pursued writing, publishing several books including his memoir “Kiss Me Like a Stranger: My Search for Love and Art” published in 2005.
In 2016, at the age of 83, Gene Wilder passed away due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease.
