McCall assured them that the matter was being taken seriously, and ITV had conducted an investigation in 2019/2020 when rumors of the relationship began to circulate. No evidence of the relationship was found beyond hearsay and rumor. However, doubts surfaced when Eamonn Holmes, who co-presented This Morning until 2021, claimed that the lover was transported to work from Schofield’s home in ITV taxis.
