Philadelphia Police Officer Patrick Heron Faces Additional Charges for Sexual Offenses

In an alarming turn of events, Patrick Heron, a retired Philadelphia police officer, already facing charges of child sex assault, is now accused of additional sex crimes that occurred during his time on duty.

Prior to his retirement in 2019, Heron was charged with impersonating an officer to lure young girls into meeting him or soliciting intimate photos. District Attorney Larry Krasner has described these allegations as deeply troubling.

Heron now faces sexual misconduct charges involving girls and women in 19 new cases between 2005 and 2019, while he was still a member of the police force. He is also charged with witness intimidation or threats.

During a press conference, Lyandra Retacco, chief of the Special Investigations Unit of the District Attorney’s Office, stated, “We continue to discover more victims and gather new evidence,” (according to The Philadelphia Inquirer).

Heron, who is 53 years old, is currently being held without bail after his $2 million bail was revoked. His lawyer, Pierre La Tour, declined to comment on the new charges, as reported by the newspaper.

The recently announced total of 233 charges includes kidnapping, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, indecent assault, and institutional sexual assault.
