A minor incident occurred at the renowned Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, leading to the cancellation of this week’s anticipated performances of “Les Miserables”.
Upon arriving at the theater on Thursday at approximately 10 a.m., firefighters were greeted with smoke emanating from an electrical room and a backstage area. However, no flames were found during their thorough inspection. It was discovered that a previous issue with a transformer had triggered the event, as informed by theater staff.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Initially, the cancellation notice only applied to performances scheduled for Thursday and Friday evenings. However, this decision was expanded to include the entire weekend, as confirmed on Friday afternoon.
The theater officials conveyed the situation via social media, stating, “Due to an electrical outage which sparked a minor fire at the Hollywood Pantages, all performances of ‘Les Miserables’ until Sunday, Aug. 27 at 6:30 p.m. have been called off.”
Expressing gratitude for the absence of any harm inflicted on individuals, the theater shared, “Although the building did endure minor damage, we are actively resolving the issue.”
The show is scheduled to continue on Tuesday, Aug. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
The theater has assured ticketholders for the canceled performances that they will receive automatic refunds through their original payment method.
