‘Percocet Princess’ supplied drugs to De Niro’s grandson

Law enforcement agencies, including the New York Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and Homeland Security, collaborated in an undercover operation leading to the arrest of a 20-year-old woman known as the “Percocet Princess.” Sofia Haley Marks was apprehended on Thursday at around 6pm in connection with the suspected overdose death of Robert De Niro’s 19-year-old grandson, Leandro De Niro-Rodriguez. The New York Post reports that Marks is facing federal drug distribution charges and is scheduled for arraignment in Manhattan federal court on Friday morning. ABC News also confirms her arrest and charges.

On July 2, De Niro-Rodriguez was discovered dead in a Lower Manhattan residence, where he was reportedly housesitting, according to TMZ. Although the cause of death has not been disclosed by authorities, his mother, the eldest daughter of Robert De Niro, revealed on Instagram that her son died after consuming pills containing fentanyl. She stated that someone knowingly sold him pills laced with the dangerous substance. The New York Post quotes NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig, who revealed that fentanyl is present in approximately 98% of drugs in New York City and is up to 50 times more potent than heroin.
